Quincy Bus Maintenance Facility Construction Update | Summer 2024

Updated on September 5, 2024

Construction workers on an aerial lift work on a new steel structure

As part of our Bus Facility Modernization project, we’re constructing a new Quincy Bus Maintenance Facility to accommodate a larger, more modern fleet of battery-electric buses (BEBs). This will allow for potential service expansion and support our efforts to lessen our environmental impact.

Construction Progress Update

  • Crews installed a traffic signal at the new intersection on Thomas Burgin Pkwy.
  • Crews began building and site masonry work in June 2024.
  • Crews began constructing the facility's structural steel in July 2024.
  • All work, including (but not limited to) site utilities, electrical duct banks, and the electrical switch station building, is continuing on schedule.

Building a Better T

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
